Jardin Mental is a customizable journal designed to facilitate the tracking of various aspects related to your mental health. It enables users to record pertinent information, monitor progress over time, and identify factors that influence their well-being. While it can be utilized independently for self-awareness, its primary purpose is to serve as a complementary tool in collaboration with healthcare professionals, enhancing treatment outcomes and supporting effective management of mental health conditions.
The application incorporates a daily questionnaire that prompts users to evaluate personalized indicators such as symptoms, feelings, behaviors, or thoughts. It also allows for logging significant daily events and medication intake. This systematic recording ensures that critical information is available during consultations with mental health practitioners—including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, peer supporters, or social workers—facilitating comprehensive care.
Jardin Mental is provided free of charge and maintains complete anonymity; no personal data is required to use the platform. All entries are stored exclusively on the user's device, ensuring data privacy and security. Users retain control over their information and can choose to share selected data with healthcare providers either by presenting it during appointments or transmitting it via email through the app.
The development of Jardin Mental is an ongoing process involving feedback from healthcare professionals—including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and peer supporters—as well as input from users. To better tailor the service to user needs, suggestions can be submitted via email at jardinmental@frabique.social.gouv.fr or through the ‘‘Contribute to the Application’’ feature within the app. Users are encouraged to provide contact details if they wish to be contacted by the team for further engagement and feedback sharing.
Within the section titled ‘‘My Entries,’’ users can access their daily questionnaires and track various indicators such as anxiety, agitation, mood, stress, melancholy, sadness, motivation, sleep quality, libido, insomnia, or behaviors. The platform also allows for recording medication intake—either selecting from a prefilled list or adding custom entries when necessary.
Personal notes enable users to document daily events and thoughts. Beyond serving as a personal journal, this function assists in identifying possible influences on mental health fluctuations—whether external events or subtler internal factors like mood dips, panic attacks, or anxiety episodes—contributing to a deeper understanding of individual experiences.
Additionally, Jardin Mental offers an exercise based on Beck's cognitive distortions technique—a method commonly employed in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). This exercise helps users analyze automatic thoughts by examining their origins and consequences, supporting cognitive restructuring efforts. It is recommended that these exercises be conducted under supervision during therapy sessions.
While Jardin Mental acts as a supportive aid in recovery and self-management, it does not replace professional consultation. It does not provide medical diagnoses related to mood disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, eating disorders (including anorexia and bulimia), paranoid conditions, or other psychological illnesses. In case of psychiatric emergencies—particularly thoughts of self-harm or suicide—users should contact emergency services or utilize the helpline features available within the application under ‘‘Talk to Someone.’’
